Rasheeda, a single mother of one, came to us in 2008 after living in a series of foster care placements.

She was pregnant, unemployed, and had dropped out of school in the 9th grade. Rasheeda needed assistance with basic housekeeping, parenting skills and health and nutrition. As a result, we referred her to parenting classes and taught her how to clean, cook and provided her with information on how to eat healthy and nutritious meals. Next, we addressed Rasheeda’s educational needs and helped her get into a GED program. Within a year, Rasheeda, successfully passed her GED, maintained cleanliness, focused on eating healthier and gained employment as a Nurse’s Aide. Today, Rasheeda is full time employed, has secured day care for her infant and is now preparing and eating healthier meals for herself and infant.
