Kayla came to us in 2008 due to living with a mother who used and abused drugs.
Kayla’s mother neglected to provide food and clothing for Kayla and her siblings. At the age of 18 Kayla had two children, no formal education, unemployed and suffered from Depression. Within a few months of placement at our Teen Mothers facility, Kayla was able to find daycare for her children, attend parenting classes and weekly counseling for depression. Our life skills team assisted Kayla with money management, nutrition, daily living skills, meal preparation and overall health and well being. Kayla has been in our facility for the past three years and within those years she acquired a full time position as a Nurse’s Aide, focused on her mental health, provided excellent care for her children and has saved enough money to live independently.
